The purpose of this experiment is to demonstrate relative motion (if both the cart and ball have the same horizontal velocity and equal horizontal accleleration (e.g. on an incline) then the ball will always land in the bucket.
This experiment is also a good introduction to projectile motion, with the ball displaying a parabola

Ballistic cart (to shoot ball up and catch) [Pasco ME-9486]
Ballistic cart drop rod (to drop ball from height to show ball landing in bucket)

Pitfalls / causes of error
Try this before doing with your class. Often slight adjustments are required.
Remember this requires a 9V battery which if left on does go flat!
Ensure the trip goes smoothly through the sensor - friction will cause this experiment to fall flat on its face.
